Manaslu Region

Manaslu Region is named after the mountain name Mount Manaslu which is eights highest peak in the world. Its height is 8,163 Meters (26,781 feet) from the sea level. Mt. Manaslu is also known as Kutang.

Mount Manaslu lies in the West-Central part of Nepal and this is this is the highest peak in Gorkha District Nepal. Manaslu is under the conservation area trust and the Manaslu Conservation Area (MCA) has been established with the primary objective of achieving conservation and sustainable management of the delimited area. The status of “conservation area” applied to the Manaslu area or region was with the basic objective “To conserve and sustainable management of the natural resources and rich cultural heritage and to promote ecotourism to improve the livelihood of the local people in the MCA region.”

Larkya La Pass is the most challenging and attraction of Manaslu Trek which is (5125 m / 16810 ft), Himalchuli (7,893 Meters), Ngadi Chuli (7,871 Meters), Shringi (7,187 Meters), Langpo (6,668 Meters), Ganesh Himal (7,422 Meters / 24,350 ft) and Saula (6,235 Meters) are other major attractive peaks of Manaslu Region. Over 110 species of birds, 33 mammals, 11 butterflies and 3 reptiles have been recorded in this area. So this trek is rich in flora and fauna.

Tibetan ethnicity dominates the scene as can be discerned from their flat roofed houses, and they are distinctly Buddhists. The region is dotted with austere monasteries, mani walls, chortens and other Buddhist religious landmarks. People follow Tibetan lifestyle and culture. Their language is similar to the Tibetan language. Trekkers can taste all types of meals during the trek but Tibetan meals have the big influence. Camping is not required in Manaslu Trek because there are hotels and we call them teahouse. The earthquake in Nepal 2015, had destroyed houses, monuments, and trekking trials but they are now constructed and normal.

Manaslu Trekking is one of the famous trekking in Nepal which includes round Manaslu Circuit Trek and Tsum Valley Trekking. Manaslu is also under restricted area and trekkers need the different (special) permit to get trekking permit. Similarly, there are also routes that lead this trek into Annapurna Region. Driving from Kathmandu to Arughat of Gorkha is the trekking entry point of Manaslu Trek. Normally people do two to three weeks Manaslu Trek but some trekkers extend for more days to explore more areas near Manaslu e.g. Tsum Valley Trek, Annapurna Circuit Trek or Ghale Gaun Home Stay Trek etc.
